Project Brief

Using Figma create an interactive digital tool to showcase the importance of individuals’ choices within the fashion industry. This tool will help people to see the impact of their decisions around fashion. In turn, this will promote consciousness and mindfulness moving forward.

Procedure

• Research through interviews, online, and databases

• Define the focus/approach on the fast fashion topic

• Determine the statistics and infographics

• Create a wireframe for the interactive survey

• Implement test results

• Develop a visual style and system

Deliverables

Using http://www.footprintcalculator.org/home/en as inspiration.

Create a survey with results showing the impact of fast fashion.

Create a symbolic narrative to better illustrate the importance of fashion decisions ( in the example it uses “how many earths we use if everyone were to live like you” from my Carbon Footprint).

5-10 Questions to determine the impact of that person (use research in environmental stats to determine these).

Use fun interactive elements to create an experience rather than a survey.

Audience

The primary users of this tool would be young adults. Trends and fast fashion target this demographic. However, this tool can help anyone better understand the ripple effect of their choices around garments and fashion.

Speaking with Fashion Revolution

Slow Fashion is a very large topic. However, after speaking with Nicole a phrase she mentioned stuck out “We want to progress, not perfection”. I wanted to base my fashion survey on this statement. It should empower people to change their habits. We do not have to do it all at once. It can be one small step at a time.

The Current Tone Around Fashion

Many current campaigns around improving the fashion industry have a negative tone. They use fear tactics and shaming to try and provoke change. However, this was something I did not want to do.

Instead, I created a positive tone with my approach. I felt this would better create lasting change.

Understanding Fashion Choices

I spoke with Bailey, about which factors she considers when shopping, to better understand how someone can make fashion choices. This chat helped form many of the questions asked in the survey.
